First Yanukovych Government

The first Yanukovych Government was the Ukrainian cabinet of ministers between 21 November 2002 and 5 January 2005, led by Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. Yanukovych had been elected Prime Minister of Ukraine with 234 votes, only 8 more than needed.〔(How Ukraine Became a Market Economy and Democracy ) by Anders Åslund, Peterson Institute for International Economics, 2009, ISBN 978-0-88132-427-3 (page 153)〕
On December 1, 2004 (during the Orange Revolution) the Ukrainian Parliament passed a vote of no-confidence.〔http://www.voanews.com/english/archive/2004-12/Ukraine-Parliament-Passes-Vote-of-No-Confidence-in-Yanukovich-Government.cfm?moddate=2004-12-01〕 The government supported NATO membership of Ukraine (2002) and sent Ukrainian troops to Iraq in 2003.〔http://www.taraskuzio.net/media20_files/Oxford_Analytica_tmp141.pdf〕
